Jesse Reising, congressional candidate for Illinois’ thirteenth congressional district, released the

following statement following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address:

Tonight, the American people deserved to hear how the President plans to address the ever-increasing challenges we face. Instead, he offered excuses and tried gaslighting all of us.

Our economy is on the brink of disaster with a soaring cost of living, we face skyrocketing crime rates fueled by ‘defund the police’ rhetoric, and our children are being indoctrinated to believe that they are either oppressors or victims. And now, emboldened by Biden’s weakness, Russia has invaded Ukraine.

President Biden urges Americans to have patience; patience that the sanctions on Russia will work, patience that inflation will decrease, and patience to wait for a better America. But if we don’t immediately change the course our nation is on, then we won’t recognize it in just a few years.

Here in Illinois, we have one of the highestest murder rates in the country, the cost of basic household goods has increased by 6.8 percent, and the number of K-12 students who read at grade level fell 17 percent since 2019.

The Democratic party elites don’t trust everyday Americans to do what’s right. We need a government that treats us like adults and trusts us to do what’s right for ourselves and our neighbors.

We need a unifying voice to tackle the challenges we face as a state and as a nation. The people of Illinois deserve leaders who will put their values before those of special interests and political insiders. The thirteenth congressional district deserves someone who knows how to get results.
