Reising will introduce legislation that reforms Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934

Swansea, IL. –  Today, Jesse Reising introduces his plan to amend Section 230 of the Communications Act by narrowing the scope of liability protections that Big Tech companies currently enjoy. This is the first of several legislative proposals Reising plans to share with voters ahead of the June 28th primary election.

Narrowing the scope of liability would maintain providers rights to police obscene, violent, or unlawful content, but prohibit them from using these protections to censor political speech as the current liability protections are being used to do.

“The free exchange of ideas and opinions is a fundamental part of our country that needs to be protected,” said Jesse Reising, candidate for Illinois thirteenth district. “We have seen time and again how big tech uses Section 230 protections to limit free speech, particularly the speech of conservative users who disagree with the woke progressive agenda. Let’s get back to embracing public discourse and appreciate differences of opinions.”

A political outsider with a history of getting results, Reising is the only candidate in the race with solutions to tackle the challenges facing our country.
