Decatur, IL. –  Last week at a meet-and-greet with voters in Edwardsville, Congressman John Shimkus, who served the people of Central and Southern Illinois for twenty-four years in the United States Congress, announced his endorsement of Jesse Reising for Congress in Illinois’ thirteenth congressional district.

“Gerrymandering happened in Illinois to elect more Democrats,” said Shimkus. “But what was not bargained for was the fact that we got a great candidate who can run in this district and win, and that’s why I’m endorsing [Reising].”

Despite the Madigan-Pritzker machine drawing the thirteenth district to favor their own, the region – from Champaign-Urbana to Metro East and the communities in between – is made up of hard working, blue collar families that are looking for one of their own to fight for them in DC.

“I’m incredibly honored to have your support and endorsement,” said Reising. “Congressman Shimkus embodies that citizen-servant ideal that we all aspire to. He understands what it means to put the people and priorities of Central and Southern Illinoisans first. I look forward to continuing that service and fighting for the people of our district.”
